About Me

I am SO not a beauty icon.

I have this image in my head of what a 'beauty blogger' looks like. I envision a very put-together woman who seems to have it all - her clothes are pristine, never leaves the house without perfect makeup and hair that looks like she just left the salon. Her kids are always well behaved and her husband plays golf on the weekends. I am the exact opposite of this person.

I am a mom of a very active 8 year old little boy and his social life puts mine to shame. Between school, cub scouts, karate and soccer I feel like I am literally running all the time. Most days I barely have time to dry my hair, let alone put makeup on or make sure my socks match (more times than not, they don't). And my husband tends to spend his free time fishing or killing some poor, furry animal.

I made this blog for a few reasons, none of which makes me any kind of expert on beauty. One, I am a creative soul. I love to draw, paint, sew, scrapbook - anything that will allow me to 'create'. However, I have the attention span of a gnat. With nail art, I am able to create 'art' in a format and time frame that fits my personality.

Secondly, I am actively learning. I tend to obsess (my husband's word, not mine) over my nails lately and I am learning all kinds of cool tricks and products. I want to share what I find with you! I have training as a nail tech, but that was years ago. Things have changed and nail care and design seem to be a constantly changing subject. From swatching new polishes to testing 'nail vitamins' I want to be able to save you from the trial and error.

Finally, I work full time in logistics. I spend all day surrounded by boys. My office is mostly men, I talk to truck drivers all day on the phone and the industry itself is just 'rough'. Tough talk, loud voices, and fast paced days take all the 'girly' out of my life. This blog is my little piece of girl time.

If you've stuck around long enough to read this essay, thank you! And mostly, welcome to my little world or pretty colors, glitter and happy.
